It has been a busy start to the 2018-19 fiscal year for the WoodTALKS program. There have been many changes: the reins have been passed from Roy Manion to Ken Hori, the program has undergone a rebranding (formally the Specifiers Program), and new companies have joined, creating a more robust offering of seminars. You can see this list by heading over to the WoodTALKS webpage here.
Although busy most week days with Lunch and Learns (by the end of the month we will have conducted 15), there has been an increased focus on offering Seminar Tours. This has included: a furniture seminar for designers, a timberframe construction tour in Whistler, two prefinishing factory tours, and a variety of subjects for a Vancouver Island specifier audience.
The summer is a busy time at BC Wood as we prepare for the Global Buyers Mission. Pre-registration for WoodTALKS @ the GBM has been opened and specifiers have already started registering. In the coming weeks, the full schedule including speakers, will be released. The Mini-Seminar program will once again have a vast offering with 16 companies participating.
We are also in the process of updating the Specifiers’ Guide! This guide features BC’s world class wood products manufacturing companies, the products they produce, and contact information. It is distributed to architects, designers, and contractors throughout BC, Alberta, and Western US. Since 2012, this guide has been distributed to over 2500 specifiers.
