From September 24th to September 30th, 2023

The Centre for Advanced Wood Processing (CAWP) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in collaboration with the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) is pleased to announce the Prefabricated Timber Building Tour to Sweden. The tour commences on Sunday, September 24th in Malmo, Sweden where we will spend 3 days travelling into the heart of Southern Sweden, where innovation and sustainability converge in the realm of prefabricated timber buildings. Join us for a unique and immersive experience as we journey through picturesque landscapes, visiting leading companies at the forefront of panelized and volumetric home manufacturing, including the renowned Boklok (Ikea’s state-of-the-art prefabricated house facility). The focus of the tour will be to visit manufacturers of prefabricated energy efficient homes, innovative mass-timber component manufacturers, and sites that showcase innovative wood design and construction. The tour will culminate at the Forum Holzbau – Nordic 2023, the leading conference for wood building in the Nordic countries. The group will also take part in the pre-conference proceedings where we will visit with representatives from 10 recently completed projects in the Vaxjö area.

The UBC CAWP has been leading tours to Europe for the last 20 years. This tour is an opportunity for participants to visit some of Sweden’ leading prefabricated building systems manufacturers. These companies provide building solutions to meet the sustainability and green building requirements of advanced energy efficient materials, and mass-timber products for single family, multi-family, and non-residential construction.

Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to be a part of the tour.
