BC Wood and its member companies participated in the Bond Disenhotel trade event from May 25-28, 2025, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This premier event drew top architects and developers from Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America, all focused on the resort and hospitality sector.

As first-time attendees, BC Wood viewed this event as an exploratory mission to uncover market opportunities in Mexico and surrounding regions. Key findings include:

  • Concrete Dominance: Mexico continues to rely heavily on concrete for structural applications.
  • Structural and Semi-Finished Wood Opportunities: Promising markets exist in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico City, and Caribbean regions including the Grand Bahamas and the Dominican Republic, where US-based developers are active in resort projects.
  • Architectural Millwork Potential: There is strong demand for appearance-grade wood products, including solid and engineered wood, well-suited for tropical climates similar to Hawaii.

In summary, the resort and hospitality sectors in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America present growing opportunities for BC Wood members. If you’re attending the GBM in Whistler and participating in the Building Connections event, you can connect directly with pre-selected architects and developers working on world-class projects in these regions.
