The Trade Commissioner Service is pleased to invite interested Canadian lumber companies to participate in the Virtual Lumber Catalogue Show in Karachi, Pakistan.

It offers a convenient and cost-free opportunity for Canadian companies to connect with the local market without the need of being physically present. We encourage you to participate just by sending us printed materials, sample products and catalogues.

The Canadian Commercial Office Karachi will organise this one-day event to identify potential end users of Canadian wood products including architects, construction and housing industry players and lumber importers.

This initiative will provide the Post an opportunity to reach out to a targeted group of end users of wood products, encouraging them to connect with Canadian Lumber Suppliers. Interested Canadian lumber suppliers/companies can participate in this free of cost event by sending a sizeable quantity of site samples and catalogues to be displayed during the show for the interest of targeted local lumber industry contacts. Our event partners are: Association of Builders and Developers ABAD, Institute of Architects Pakistan – IAP, The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Karachi Timber Merchants Group – KTMG.

WHY EXHIBIT?

The steady growth of the Pakistan market for Canadian lumber products (about 20% YoY increase in Canadian lumber exports to Pakistan) is a positive market indicator that is driving activity among lumber importers, end users and all other industry players involved in the wood trade. There is a continued growth of Canadian lumber exports to Pakistan which had crossed $44 million for the first time in 2016-2017. Post expects the growth trend to continue in 2018 and beyond. Canada has now become a main competitor in the local market second to US and EU.

This opportunity will also be highly useful in developing the local lumber industry’s understanding about the grades, species and dimensions of Canadian softwoods.

It will also help Canadian participants to receive legitimate contact information for new Pakistani lumber importers and end users. The possible dates of the event will be between Feb-March 2019.
