Natural Resources Canada – Global Forest Leadership Program

Canada’s Global Forest Leadership Program supports forest sector international market diversification including market access through engagement and partnerships, and sharing Canadian expertise abroad.

The Global Forest Leadership Program promotes sustainable forest management globally and advances the interests of Canada’s forest sector abroad, including by:

  • Supporting international market development and diversification efforts for traditional, non-traditional and new forest products
  • Increasing Canada’s active engagement and contributions to international forest forums and initiatives
  • Working with like-minded partners and demonstrating leadership in support of the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests and Land Use
  • Working with domestic partners to raise Canada’s domestic awareness of international forest policy trends, and to test and promote new forest management approaches that respond to the changing expectations of the international market
  • Strengthening Canada’s collaboration and approach to forest sector leadership with international and domestic partners
  • Providing practical and concrete responses to international requests for wildland fire and forest stewardship assistance

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry

The ministry is responsible for the policies, legislation, regulations and services necessary for Alberta’s agriculture, food and forest sectors to grow, prosper and diversify. The Forestry Division of the ministry developed strategies for the expansion of Alberta’s primary wood product manufacturing sector and the improvement of the economic contribution of Alberta’s advanced/secondary wood products manufacturing sector. BC Wood was selected to work with the ministry and industry to deliver activities that accomplish the objectives of the initiative.

Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario

A cluster organization is of a group of companies and associated institutions, in a common industry and geographical area, linked by the same interests, needs and challenges. In southwestern Ontario the seeds of the cluster have been in existence for decades.

Forestry Innovation Investment

On behalf of the Province of British Columbia, Forestry Innovation Investment helps maintain, create and diversify markets for B.C. forest products to ensure the forest sector continues to be a key contributor to the B.C. economy.

FPInnovations

FPInnovations is a not-for-profit world leader that specializes in the creation of innovative scientific solutions in support of the Canadian forest sector’s global competitiveness, as well as responding to the priority needs of its industry members and government partners.

Global Affairs Canada

Global Affairs Canada manages Canada’s diplomatic relations, provides consular services to Canadians, promotes the country’s international trade, and leads Canada’s international development and humanitarian assistance.

Quebec Wood Export Bureau

The Quebec Wood Export Bureau is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop export markets for wood products from Quebec, to ensure access of these products on the markets and to promote the use of wood in all markets, as regional, provincial and national.

UBC Centre for Advanced Wood Processing

The Centre for Advanced Wood Processing (CAWP) is Canada’s national centre for education, training, technical assistance for the wood products manufacturing industry. CAWP offers a wide range of training courses, professional e-learning programs, in-plant training, product development, applied research, and manufacturing improvement services.

Western Red Cedar Lumber Association

The Western Red Cedar Lumber Association is a non-profit association representing 27 quality producers of Western Red Cedar lumber products in British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
